POSITION SUMMARY:
The sales manager is responsible for increasing company revenue through new business development and increasing existing sales volume and price. Maintain favorable and effective long-term relationships with current customers. Identify and prospect for new customers. Develop and maintain sales planning, management, and support systems. Assist management in the development of annual sales and business plan. Resolve customer complaints in accordance with company policy and industry best practices. Analyze market trends and develop action plan to capitalize on shifts in market and develop specific strategies to obtain the business. Oversee sales process from pricing to enforcing credit terms and preparing contracts.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:
Customer relationships and networking:
  • Establish strong relationships with our customers at multiple levels (operations, senior management, procurement, etc.).
  • Network with influential leaders and decision makers within the industries the company serves.
  • Work in partnership with the other sales managers as an advocate for the customer to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Develop market knowledge from customer interaction using the Miller Heiman sales process.
  • Support sales development through field customer visits, promotional activities, trade shows, etc.
  • Represent company/face of company in all customer dealings.
  • Provide bids, quotes and prices that put LNA and customer in best possible position to achieve long term goals.
  • Understand our production capabilities as well as the competition’s abilities.
Interact with Corporate NBD to stimulate the development of new and innovative products and services and develop the strategies to bring them to market
  • Keep fully abreast of the market, competing products, competitors, market pricing, competitor customers, and market volume
Sales growth activities:
  • New business development for the West
  • Utilize basic communication skills to maintain and grow sales with existing customers and solicit for referrals
  • Understand current and potential future customer use for base and industrial minerals usage as well as value in use (lime not as a commodity).
  • Support and assist in developing efficient process, distribution, and logistics support systems.
  • Address all needed administrative related needs for accounts including pricing updates and letters, logistics, and competitive knowledge.
  • Work closely with the other sales managers on business development or customer relationship opportunities with larger customers requiring face- to-face interaction and support.
  • Meet and/or exceed all assigned sales objectives.
  • Work with logistics team for competitive delivered pricing.
  • Gain new accounts.
  • Work with Corp NBD on new markets or sales opportunities.
  • Assist with strategic expansion initiatives.
Market intelligence:
  • Develop market intelligence in existing and new territories.
  • Keep fully abreast of your geographical market (volumes, pricing, product quality, market trends, technological evolutions affecting our customers businesses).
  • Gain market intelligences and competitive knowledge to maximize product and service portfolio margins.
  • Knowledge and understanding of competing products, competitors, market pricing, competitor customers.
  • Maintain an up-to-date list of potential customers targets in your area.
Deliver sales objectives:
  • Participate in the development of the sales budget.
  • Provide monthly sales forecasts update.
  • Provide and/or oversee customer pricing, quotes, as well as provide accurate and meaningful information to the Pricing Council.
  • Negotiate best possible pricing and supply agreements for customers and for LNA.
  • Develop weekly / monthly reports for your accounts.
  • Investigate, analyze, and interpret industry/sales data.
  • Create and maintain long range sales plans.
  • Accurately determine value of products in marketplace through market analysis.
  • Increase sales with existing customers by providing additional technical expertise on how our products are able to enhance their business model.
Effective negotiating:
  • Negotiate best possible prices for LNA.
  • Represent company/face of company in all customer dealings.
  • Provide bids, quotes and prices that put LNA and customer in best possible position to achieve long term goals.
Customer support:
  • Address and resolve customers complaints with a sense of urgency.
  • Collaborate with Shipping Coordinators/CSR’s at the terminals and plants.
  • Work on logistics opportunities with the Supply Chain & Logistics team.
Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint software. Previous SAP knowledge is a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
  • Must be physically able to perform work assigned.
  • Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations.
  • Tolerate working outside in severe weather conditions as well as exposure to industrial high temperature, noise, and dust.
  • Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
  • Will be working in an office, mining, and lime processing environment.
  • The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Metallic Particles.
  • The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing, and sitting.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to travel up to 60%.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Marketing, or a technical degree in Metallurgical, Mechanical, or Chemical engineering, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFFERED EDUCATION:
  • Technical degree in Metallurgical, Mechanical, or Chemical engineering. Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, and Marketing.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Must have a minimum of seven (7) years of proven sales leadership experience in mining, cement, chemical, or raw materials environment.
PREFFERED EXPERIENCE:
  • Ten to twelve (10-12) plus years of experience in the sales leadership in mining, cement, chemical environmental
